A Night at the Circus *

When the opportunity arose to attend Paulos Circus’ latest show, and share our experience on the blog, Stu and I jumped at the chance. We decided to stay away from social media searches, and so we had no idea what to expect, we were excited! We weren’t to be disappointed!

I can’t remember the last time I went to the circus, long enough that times have changed and the presence of animals is thankfully no longer a thing. Looking forward to acrobatics, fun and more… But what would we get?

This is a sponsored post; I was gifted tickets to Paulo’s Circus in return for an honest review.

If you’re in Cornwall, Paulos is currently in Newquay. Should you wish to pay Paulo’s Circus a visit, which I would highly recommend! You can find them at Treloggan Road, Newquay (which is opposite Morrisons, TR8 4QB for those with sat-nav) up until the 7th September!

Full details can be found on the website or Facebook Page; where you’ll also find discount vouchers, if £7 a ticket isn’t affordable enough! They also offer free tickets to local  emergency services and forces.

We headed over on a sunny Saturday evening, to  to find lots of parking, and the spectacular view of the pink big-top! I picked up our complimentary tickets* from the box office (having a nice laugh with the lady there, which is always a good start!) before joining the queue for a ten minute wait for the doors to open (at 7:30) and Paulo’s Circus – The Rockets Tour!

Upon entering the big top you are greeted by the amazing scents of popcorn; as you make your way through the doors; meeting the fabulous Mr N, who’s clowning around kept the audience amused throughout the evening!

We opted for a can of cold drink, and some popcorn, which was more than enough between us, and at £4 for both, we weren’t complaining, there was also beer and cider available, and hot dogs, as you enter the tent. The seating is open, and though fairly busy everyone had plenty of room.

The acts were brilliant. Touring from around the world, sharing their skills, and keeping things lively and fast paced.

There’s definitely lots to see from the knife throwing act of Duo Vinkali

The incredible high wire feats of Los Sanchez, seriously, I’ve seen people walking a tightrope, but riding a tiny bicycle? So fun!

I love aerial silks, and really enjoyed the breath-taking acrobatics of Melissa Carne.

The very talented Bruno shared traditional juggling, with a modern and creative twist.

And Simon Deville who’s balancing act was literally nail biting!

At around 70 minutes long, the show has no interval, and is just the right length to keep younger viewers interested. We loved every minute, it was a fun, feel-good show, with enough blend of old school charm and an epic finale with a modern twist. We arrived with no expectations, and left wanting to revisit, and already have our sights on next years show!

Thoroughly recommended for locals and visitors of all ages! This really is a great evening’s entertainment, fun for all the family; and it’s so affordable too!

You can also find Paulo’s on Twitter and Instagram!

While I was gifted my tickets for the show, the opinions above are my own.
