Finally we are able to get out and about again! So we’re heading not too far from home this week, to one of our favourite nearby National Trust sites, Trelissick Gardens.
Now I’m back to work facing the general public again, so, it meant we’ve decided to make the occasional booking for a day out again. At least here, a few places are open, in some capacity, with timed arrivals spots available for booking around a day or two in advance.
Of course this is a difficult time, but we really enjoy our wanders around local National Trust properties and gardens, and have missed them so much over the lockdown, so for our first wander (aside from the local park) we booked to visit Trelissick.
The booking process is really simple and quick; and we booked to arrive in early afternoon. Upon arrival in our allotted time slot, we can stay however long we like. The booking is in order to stagger arrivals and control numbers. If you are not a member; you pay at the time of booking, and members input their membership information, and it remains free.

It wasn’t very busy when we arrived in the car park. We showed our booking information as we pulled in, and were greeted by a member of staff.
The staff member explained; that there is a one way system in place; around the gardens, and the cafe is currently closed. The toilets at the entrance to the gardens are open and regularly cleaned.
We enjoyed returning to Trelissick, barely meeting anyone as we wandered around. We had a slow walk, stopping to admire the views, and take photos. At no point did we encounter more than one or two people as we walked around.
You can check out another post about Trelissick here.
There are notices and barriers to both maintain awareness and ensure social distancing throughout the gardens. Honestly, it felt wonderful to be somewhere else after the last couple of months!
Of course there is a certain amount of apprehension when it comes to returning to ‘normal’ activities; but this was a great way to start, as it was fully stress free, and an enjoyable afternoon!
