*Date Night* The Epic Disney Tag

This is the beginning of a new feature on the blog, where Stu, joins me for a blog post once a month, where we will chat about all sorts of things, including top tens, and other fun tags!

The Epic Disney Tag

This month, I found The Epic Disney Tag over on Colleen’s Blog, and wanted to do it myself, and then Stu liked the idea too, so it has become the first *Date Night* post.

As this is the case, and this will be a long post, I won’t be tagging anyone, but feel free to do the Tag, and share your answers, and tag me so I can see!

We have decided to exclude live-action movies from our answers, as there are already a lot of titles available if you answer about the Disney animated collection, and PIXAR movies. Also then you get into the grey area surrounding the ownership of Marvel and Star Wars. So sorry Herbie, Mary Poppins and Jack Sparrow. (Also haven’t included The Nightmare Before Christmas, as Disney only part-produced it alongside Tim Burton).

  1. A scene in any Disney movie you wish you could experience?

K- I had to think for a while about this one… I’d quite like to visit Wonderland. I’ve always loved the Alice books. So can I just go? I know it’s not really a scene, but it just seems like my kind of place! If I have to just have one scene, I’d be up for tea with Alice, The Mad Hatter, Dormouse and the March Hare.

S- I always loved the scene in Cars, where McQueen and Sally go for a drive in the amazing scenery around Radiator Springs – made we want to drive Route 66 which is still an ambition of mine!

  1. An unforgettable experience you’ve had at the parks?

K- I have to think of just one? It was amazing to visit Disneyland Paris when the 25th anniversary was on, and see the shows and parades for this special event. Also the first night we went to the illuminations and the opening notes of Let it Go rang out, there was a collective groan through the crowd and that was just so funny!

S- Many of the rides and particularly Kay’s reaction to them, “This is awesome!”/”Pew-pew”(Hyperspace Mountain), “I don’t know what way up I am!”(Crush’s Coaster), “I don’t like it!”(RC).. going on Pirates of the Caribbean 5 times in a row to escape the 30+ degree heat.. And when we kept meeting and chatting with the same family from Ireland over and over in totally different areas of the park, within the space of about 2 hours.

K- lol “Daddy, it’s those people again!”

  1. What non-Disney song reminds you or brings back memories of Disney and or the parks?

K- Am I allowed “Magic Everywhere”? It’s kind-of a Disney song, as it’s from Disneyland Paris but it’s just SO catchy, and instantly makes me think of DLP.

S- Aerosmith – Sweet Emotion (among other Aerosmith tracks such as Love in an Elevator, Walk This Way – thanks to the Rock’n’Rollercoaster being one of our favourite rides!) Also certain themes from Westerns like The Magnificent Seven because of my love for Frontierland.

  1. When was the first time you went to a Disney park?

K- I was 7, and went with family to Disney World, it was my first holiday abroad, and we went to a few of the parks in Florida as well as Disney. I didn’t go to another park until the first time Stu and I went to Disneyland Paris in 2015!

S- In August 2000 I went to Disneyland Paris at the age of 16 with family, didn’t get the chance to go back for nearly 15 years!

Check out our Disney Trip here.

If you could choose any of the characters to be your best friend who would you choose?

K- Too many, I think I’d get on pretty well with Rapunzel, all evidence from “When Will My Life Begin” from Tangled, suggests we have a few hobbies in common!

S- Was going to say the Genie as I would like 3 wishes, but I wonder whether he might get a bit annoying after a while.. Maybe Fergus (Brave) as he would make me laugh and entertain me with his stories.. Luigi (Cars) would be handy as I might get discounted tyres haha.. Stitch would be fun to have around.. and Hector (Coco) would be cool to rock-out with!

  1. Who is your favourite Disney princess?

K- This is far too difficult, I collect Snow White stuff though.

S- Merida’s pretty awesome.

  1. Name a scene/moment in any Disney movie that never fails to make you cry?

K- “This is my family. I found it all on my own. It’s little, and broken… But still good!” I could probably add more moments that make me cry, because I’m quite sentimental but this moment in Lilo and Stitch is just incredibly sweet.

S- The bit at the end of Coco, where Miguel plays ‘Remember Me’ (to Coco) is the closest I’ve got…

  1. What is your favourite Disney movie?

K- I couldn’t possibly choose just one! That’s too hard!! Coco, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Tangled and Snow White, all for different reasons!

S- Coco. Because it’s perfect.

  1. Overrated Disney Movie?

K- Frozen. I like it. But I don’t necessarily think it’s better than some others.

S- Had to think about this one, gonna have to go with Frozen but only because ‘Let it Go’ is not a great song imho, and the film seems to have taken over the Parks which doesn’t leave a lot of room for the many other great movies, particularly in terms of merch. I still enjoy watching it though, and singing ‘Love is an Open Door’ as a duet with Kay haha.

  1. Underrated Disney Movie?

K- The Princess and the Frog. I love this film, the music is brilliant and it’s still the princess story from a fairytale, with a bit of a twist! I also love a few older Disney movies like The Aristocats and The Fox and the Hound, which nobody really mentions anymore!

Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary Illuminations

S- I love Robin Hood, it seems to be remembered for being made up of recycled material from previous Disney movies due to budgetary constraints – but it’s still brilliant. Also, Brother Bear is a great movie that always seems to be overlooked/forgotten about.

  1. Favourite Disney song?

K- I go through phases where I get obsessed with different Disney soundtracks, so it changes quite a lot. It depends on my mood! I’m still in love with the Moana soundtrack at the moment. We sing a lot of random Disney songs at home on a semi-regular basis!

S- Sooo many I want to list..  Touch the sky/Into the Open Air (Brave), any of the songs in Coco.. the Moana soundtrack was in the car for longer than I like to admit.. Oh, and Gaston’s song gets stuck in my head on an almost weekly basis.

  1. Least Favourite Disney movie?

K- The Black Cauldron. Because. Well. It’s bad.

S- The Black Cauldron was pretty terrible…

  1. Most Memorable Disney villain?

K- I had to run through a list of villains for this question. I do love Scar. Jeremy Irons’ voice was just incredible for this role, and scar is a brilliant villain.

S- The first one that came to mind was Jafar…

  1. Favourite classic Disney/favourite modern Disney movie?

We’re taking classic to mean pre ‘90s just because we had to distinguish somehow.

K- Classic has to be Snow White in a lot of ways. There would BE no Disney without it. Modern, the newest Disney/PIXAR movie; Coco bookends nicely! It’s such a perfect film.

S- Classic – Pinocchio/Robin Hood

Modern – Tangled/Brave/Moana/Coco

  1. Favourite Disney Score?

K- This one was a tough one, but I think my favourite is Brave. It’s such a beautiful soundtrack!

Kay and Stu at the DLP Castle

S- Brave has an amazingly beautiful score.I love that we had a few crossover answers! Inevitable really considering we live in the same house, and have been together so long!

That was fun! We hope you enjoyed this post!
