Autumn Fruit Picking – Blogtober 2020

Is there anything more autumnal than visiting a pumpkin patch? While it’s a little early to be picking up a pumpkin; this weekend we headed to a local pick-your-own for some autumn fruit picking!

It’s been a while since either of us have been fruit picking, but we thought, why not! A nice excuse for some fresh air, and exercise, and a bit of fun!

Heading out in the afternoon on Saturday, and wondering if it would be busy (it wasn’t). While it wasn’t rainy, it had been raining a lot the day before; so we planned ahead and brought our wellies (much needed) so we weren’t too worried about the mud.

It was a really nice day out, and though it’s October, and we’re full into autumn fruit picking season, there were some strawberries still on the go, so we ended up picking some strawberries, raspberries and blackberries!

Taking a leisurely wander around, in no hurry, we were probably there for around two to three hours.

We visited the pumpkin patch too; but thought it was a bit too early to get one just yet, so we’ll get one nearer to the end of the month! It was fun to go though, nonetheless and made us feel very autumnal!

We also picked up some bramley apples at the on-site farm shop, of course, then you get home and wonder what to do with all the fruit, so instead, on seeing the apples, I immediately thought I’d make a crumble.

I made apple, raspberry and blackberry crumble, with a hint of mixed spice in the crumble too, so it’s very autumnal and delicious.
