Pumpkin Carving – Blogtober 2020

Who’s been carving pumpkins? We have actually decided not to do a pumpkin carving this year, mostly because I usually do it so people know they can trick or treat at our house, as locally, people only visit decorated houses.

There is still some fun though we have got some decorations for the window for anyone pumpkin spotting in the area!

I thought I’d share some of my past creations, and a fun hanging pumpkin sign I made for the window!

I love a bit of Halloween fun, and really enjoy getting creative with pumpkin carving, though I usually pick a theme, on a bit of a whim when Halloween arrives, so it’s mostly a pretty random choice!

Halloween pumpkin with Shortbread Bats

There are things I do each year, like finding some fun lights, choosing a movie, and doing some baking. I carve my pumpkin a day or so before Halloween each year.

Check out my shortbread recipe in this post here!

I couldn’t find one of my photos from a couple of years ago, but here are some of my fun pumpkin carvings from the last few years…

Pumpkin Carving - Jack Skellington
2016

I love Tim Burton movies, and Jack Skellington is really fun and quick to carve; this was a totally last minute pumpkin, so I wanted to do something fairly simple but recognisable!

Pumpkin Carving - Batman/Joker
2017

This was the year I randomly chose to dress as the Joker all day, and so I themed my pumpkin around that whole concept!

I think it was the year in between these, in 2018; I carved an awesome sugar skull pumpkin (which took forever) but I can’t find photos of it anywhere! It was when Coco came out so I was into the whole Dia de Muertos thing.

Pumpkin Carving - Cheshire Cat
2019

Anyone who has seen the craft room; will know I’m an Alice in Wonderland fan. Last year I carved this fun Cheshire Cat, check out ALL those teeth! This was so much fun to do!

So, this year, as there won’t be trick or treaters; I thought I’d save on the waste, I really was going to buy one, but I will save my idea for next year!

Instead, this year, I have done this instead! I picked this up in Hobbycraft recently, for super cheap, and just decorated it, using some lettering from my stash and a whole lot of paint and glitter!
