June is of course Pride month, and for Pride 2021, I wanted to do a couple of things! First of all I wanted to do a craft project, I also wanted to buy from an LGBTQ+ small, indie business; and in doing so, support someone’s dreams, and get something pretty for me; but something that was also representative of Pride. I also wanted to take part in the Craftic Pride Rainbow Challenge!
Wow, that’s a busy little list, when you add it to the projects I’m working on already, and the 30 Days Wild, and of course not forgetting the day job…
So, one thing at a time!
A Pride 2021 Craft Project
This one was actually super easy! I wasn’t sure what I was going to end up doing, but I visited The Range recently, and picked up this super cute rainbow mini kit for £1.49!
This was so easy to stitch, and it’s adorable. Part of me wants to caption it, so if you have any ideas, let me know in the comments below!
I could of course frame it as is, or even do a little giveaway! I’m open to ideas!
You can check out some more mini-kit fun in this post.
Support a Small Biz
I briefly mentioned this in my Tintagel post, but I’m sharing them again because they’re GORGEOUS!
I got these lovely rainbow earrings from KelZo Jewellery, and you can find them here. They’re both lovely ladies, and utterly amazing, sharing their journey from their blog: Our Transitional Life; and generally bringing all sorts of colourful goodness to the world!
Seriously, I mean, just look at this packaging!! I love supporting small businesses; and even better, my purchase also went on to support a charity too!
I can’t always buy myself little treats, but this is something I want to do more of whenever I can; even if it’s just a little something. I know it makes small biz owners do a happy dance, and it makes me feel good supporting friends!!
Craftic Pride Rainbow Challenge
I always love the craftic challenge, it seems to be an official excuse to spend a day making pretty flatlays and generally procrastinating! This month Jen set up the challenge to create a rainbow in our insta feeds, by sharing a crafty photo of projects, stash or tools, for each colour!
Here are a couple of my pics, though of course you can head over to my instagram to check out the rest!
Of course the true intent of Pride is a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBTQ+ rights have come, and how in some places there’s still work to be done. To share joy in the accomplishments of members of the LGBTQ+ community and to raise awareness of the impact of homophobia and bigotry. There is still a long way to go. Which is why June 27 will remain Global Pride Day.
Pride is all about being proud of who you are no matter who you love. Huge hugs to anyone who needs one!
