It’s no secret that I love a bit of handmade decorating, no matter what the season! I tried my hand at a couple of kits and some easy craft ideas for Christmas decor, and thought I’d share them in the one post!
I’ll also share this week’s fun Christmas bullet journal spread.
Bujo Weekly Spread
I really love the spread for this week! Getting nearer to the big day now!
This spread really made me think of the fun and liveliness at this time of year. It has been a very hectic month so far, but all the shopping is done, and I’ve sent off all the post , so I can relax a little now. I’m all about chilling with Christmas music in the background, or watching a festive film in my free time!
What have you been watching or listening to lately?
Handmade Decorating
It’s no secret I love handmade decorating at Christmas, and other times of the year! I started out my blogging life as purely a craft blogger, and it’s not far off that even now! Whether it’s a Christmas wreath, A Christmas Cushion, or even the Advent Calendar, there is a lot of handmade in our house at Christmas time.
I have shared how I’ve made felt decorations before, which you can read about in this post. But right here, I’ll share some quick and easy craft ideas, some are from affordable kits which I’ve found recently, others are just basic ideas you could try at home.
Handmade Christmas Tree Decorating
Elf Star
This is one of three from a kit, including santa, a penguin and this little elf. Very easy to make (stickers) but pretty cute! Good fun for little kids wanting do get creative at Christmas.
Handmade Reindeer Decoration
This kit was £1, which is pretty reasonable. It comes with everything you need to make the reindeer, although getting the plastic needle through the felt would have been VERY difficult (I did sew with the included needle, but had to make a couple of holes here and there for the face. The edges had pre-made holes for very easy stitching.
Generally this was quite a fun make. Great for experienced crafters or those wanting to try for the first time.
Pipe Cleaner Decorations
This is of course super easy, and fun, whether you want to make candy canes, hearts, or even bend your wires into more complex shapes. Great fun for all ages, and abilities. You can string them on a line, for a fun hanging decoration, or just add them to your tree!
Handmade Decorating – Yourself
We all love a fun project for clothes or accessories right? Here are three ideas for adding a little extra festivity this season.
Handmade Christmas Earrings
Some handmade earrings ideas are super cute, whether you want to go with an easy option, to Christmas-up your own hoops, or make some from scratch, all you need are some earring hooks; or some old studs or hoops for these three ideas!
Using some jump rings, you can add festive charms to some earring hooks, or to hoops to create some easy Christmas earrings! You sometimes get charms ON cards, so it could be a fun way to upcycle elements that would otherwise end up in the bin too! (You could also add these to a pin, or a bracelet to create something else too!)
For those that prefer stud earrings, you could use stick on gems, or even pom poms with the help of some hot glue!
Decorating Your Christmas Jumper
Anyone going to an ugly Christmas jumper party? Anything goes right?! You could even embroider onto an old jumper, as well as adding felt elements, ribbon, or of course Christmas decorations!!
If you have a Cricut Maker and an EasyPress2 like I do, you’ll be trying to hold yourself back from making ALL of the things from Design Space too! But you’ll have to wait and see the results of that one!
Have you done any handmade decorating this year? Let me know in the comments, or of course feel free to tag me over on Instagram or Twitter! I’d love to see.
