Starting 2022 with a Simple Knitting Project

I’ve had a nice little break at the beginning of the year, from work, and from the blog. It’s been nice to have a little bit of me time! Just chilling, reading and relaxing. But of course, I’ve also been working on some craft projects, ideas and plans. I’ve started the year with a simple knitting project to begin the year.

On the desk...

I wanted to do something that wouldn’t take too much brain power; as well as using up some of the stuff in my stash; so I’ve picked up my knitting needles, and some pretty cherry red yarn!

Simple Knitting Project

It’s no secret I love some basic knitting! This is very similar to the jumper project actually; though the yarn is cherry red, and not a whole variety of fun and bright colours! Though it isn’t all it seems! I just wanted a quick and simple knitting project to start the year! These projects are really chilled, and great for beginners or experienced knitters.

Simple Knitting in cherry red, on bamboo needles

I’m working in some lovely soft red DK on my 10mm needles. It’s a BIG cast on with 80 stitches. But it’s quite relaxing just knitting some stockinette or stocking stitch. It’s more an excuse to knit something I can switch off with, and just carry on while watching a film. It’s probably habit that I’ve chosen the same method as the jumper project now I think about it!

Project Plans for 2022

I want to work much more from my stash this year. Though I have already purchased washi for my bullet journal; but it’s colours or patterns I didn’t have and will definitely use after this year. Aside from utterly necessary items (needles, pens etc) I’d like to attempt as little spending as possible.

With that in mind; I do have a few projects and ideas for the year planned, which will ALL use stash; and not need me to buy anything! I have too much laying around not getting used, and I’d like to clear some of that away.

So keep an eye on the blog to see a range of projects; from knitting, cross-stitch, papercraft, sewing and more all using things found in the craft room! After this month I’d like to not need to buy anything; but that’s not exactly realistic, and there are a few things I have my eye on to support fellow creatives.

What are you working on this month? Do you have creative plans for the year? Feel free to tag me on socials (all listed below), if you’re sharing anything fun!

I’m not giving away what I’m knitting yet; so just for fun feel free to have a guess in the comments below!

  1. I’m glad you enjoyed your time off at the start of the year!

I love how you said ‘simple knitting’ project, but that looks so complicated to me! 😁 I know you used a lot of knitting terminology in this blog post; that might give a hint of what you are knitting, but I am hopeless at knitting, so my guesses are a complete shot in the dark!

Guesses: A long cardigan or scarf.

I love the cherry red yarn, by the way! 😊

This month, I want to attempt to start a knitting project as well, but again, I’m hopeless when it comes to knitting, so it might not come to pass.

Thank you for sharing this, and I’ll be on the lookout for the grand reveal! 👀 🐑

    1. Thank you!!
It’s quite simple (Knit a row, purl a row). I do have EVEN simpler projects on here for when you’re into it haha!
I wish you all the luck in your knitting adventures, definitely recommend youtube for how-to’s.

The yarn is gorgeous, and from poundland, so a ridiculously affordable project.
