No Sew Felt Love Heart Decorations

I wanted to try something fun and different this season; so I got thinking, and remembered some old origami I learned as a child. And so I decided to make some no sew felt love heart decorations! Perfect for Valentine’s or just because!

Feel the Love

Instead of sewing these; which is -of course- an option; I used some glue, felt and other bits and pieces from my craft stash, to make some cute handmade decorations. I also quite like the idea of layering these, to be able to use vinyl to decorate them! Perhaps some other time!

What I used:

  • Felt Squares
  • Glue
  • Ribbon
  • Pom Poms

Origami Hearts

Origami, the art of paper folding, is quite good fun itself. I’ve known how to make these hearts for a while, but you can find tutorials and diagrams online in many places.

I took this idea, and simply worked in felt, glueing down my folds, to make felt love heart shapes.

Decorated Felt Love Hearts

Once my glue had dried, I went around the edges, and added some embellishment, using ribbon, sequin trim, and pom-poms. You could use anything you like to decorate your hearts of course!

I really enjoyed my no-sew project, and these felt hearts are really cute! You could even add ribbon to hang them, or thread them along a line to create a fun banner for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day!

If you decide to try out my no sew felt love heart decorations; let me know in the comments or on social media! I’d love to see how you choose to embellish them! You can find me on most social media, though I’m mostly found over on Twitter, you can Tweet me or tag me on Instagram!

  1. I have an 11 y/o daughter and this is a great, simply activity we could easily do! Definitely doing this!

    1. Thank you so much!
I would definitely suggest binder clips or paperclips to keep things held down for the glue process if you don’t use hot glue
(I did for two of mine in the end).

The make is super fun though, I’d love to see, if you make them!

  2. Ok! Now this is something that I think we could do. I am a crafter in my mind, but not so much in reality. I do like art (coloring, painting, drawing) but have a child who has very little interest. I’m looking for things that will slowly open up that world for her. Thank you for the idea!

    1. Thank you so much, you’re more than welcome!
When it comes to glueing, paperclips or binder clips are your friend to hold everything in place 🙂

I’d love to see if you make them!
