Wadebridge Wheels car show is one of my favourite days of the year; I look forward to this show, which usually takes place the second Sunday of July at the Royal Cornwall Showground.
Organised and managed every year by the Wadebridge Rotary Club; Wadebridge Wheels car show never fails to be a great day out!
This year “Wheels” took place on July 15th, and it was such an amazing sunny day!
There is always a huge variety of cars to see; of almost every era and to suit almost anyone’s taste, and this show is only growing year after year. With more people attending, more clubs, and more visitors.
Wadebridge Wheels 2018:
This years show was HUGE! With so much to see; including some really interesting cars you don’t get see at the other shows here in Cornwall.
We always try to pick our favourite cars from each show; and it’s never the same, because there is always something new! Though of course we have some old favourites which we always like to see.
We’ve shown our car a couple of times over the years, which was good fun; but whether attending to show your car, or just to see what is on show; Wheels is always a great experience; and thoroughly recommended if you have a love of cars and you’re in the area.
Here are just a few of my favourites; and some of the cars you could expect to see if you attend the show:
Classics – From Austin Healey Sprites, to Morgan and Triumph clubs, and even kit cars like Panther and Dax Cobra’s, there is a ton of automotive history!
Check out our day at West Cornwall Motor Show in this post.
Sports cars – Love Porsche? Lotus? Or perhaps rally is more your side of things? You can find all sorts, old and new, historic and restored!
Various car clubs attend the shows each year, including the Cobra club, Mini club, Jaguar club, Sports club & many more! If you’re a fan of JDM or modified cars, you can find them here too!
Supercars – Mclaren, Aston Martin, Ferrari and many other big names can be spotted at the showground!
American cars – It’s no secret I love American cars, and there are no shortage at the Wadebridge show, from Mustang to Bel-Air, as well as trucks and muscle cars, you can usually find a hot rod or two! There’s nothing like the numbers here, at any of the other shows!
TV and movie cars – We’ve seen a wide range of TV and movie replicas at some of the shows we go to, whether it’s the Trotter’s Reliant Regal, something from The Fast and the Furious or Herbie! Its always fun to see what people bring!
As well as cars there are also a number of classic bikes and scooters, as well as occasional other surprises!
Other Entertainment and things to do:
With a variety of food stands on offer, auto jumble and craft stalls, as well as children’s activities, and entertainment in the parade ring throughout the day, there is plenty to keep everyone busy on this great summer day out!
The different thing about Wadebridge show, as well as the cars and bikes, is the addition of agricultural, steam and military vehicles, and the stationary engines, this is a little niche perhaps but we like to stop by and have a look, because you don’t see them anywhere else! There were also shire horses this year, giving people a short carriage ride around for an extra charge. I did go and say hello, but neglected to take their photos!
Overall as this year was a brilliant show! We really enjoyed the day, I think the only thing we came away saying was that we may need to arrive earlier next year to ensure we see everything!
