Oooh now here’s a subject that we can all get our teeth into! I’m definitely a big fan of eating and drinking, and so grab a cuppa and have a read for some of my favourite food and drink based content you can find here on the blog!
If you’ve missed it I’m currently working my way from A-Z while sharing a retrospective of The Craft Room and Beyond; looking back at some older content you may have missed; as part of the April A-Z Challenge!
I do a little Christmas baking every year, I have shared a couple of my recipes this month, though there’s one essential I haven’t shared yet, and that is of course Mince Pies!!
A Christmas classic if ever there was one! You can do this simply and easily, using a jar of mincemeat (not meat), and some premade pastry, or make it entirely from scratch! While I usually go for the first option (still counts!) here you will find how to make everything yourself!
Last weekend we headed to Lanhydrock at Christmas, one of our favourite of the places we visited this year; with a festive touch!
Throughout this year we have visited a number of National Trust properties; thanks to having couples membership. It seemed only right to go again this month, before it runs out in January, especially at this most pretty time of year.
I look forward to visiting the local Christmas market here in Truro every year; it’s always great fun and a great chance to see some wonderful handmade products made in Cornwall. I always try to do a bit of my Christmas shopping here; and there are usually some cheeky samples to enjoy too!
While I was having a wander, I thought I’d take some photos of some of the brilliant handmade products around the market! There were SO many stalls I didn’t get a chance to take photos of; as it was extremely busy, but here are a few things I loved!
I love making my own shortbread, and it’s such an easy make, so it’s no surprise that Festive Shortbread makes an appearance each Christmas!
At this time of year I tend to make either traditional shortbread, or some fun stars with various toppings. Makes approximately 20 stars depending on size… a couple of rounds you can score to snap into triangles if you’re feeling traditional, or of course the classic shortbread fingers.
One of the best things about Christmas is the food right? So for the next few weeks I thought I would share some fun Christmas baking ideas, starting with my fun gingerbread cupcakes. Of course these are a great treat ALL year round!
This is a delicious and surprisingly simple recipe. I have perfected it over time, so I can’t state my sources; as it’s probably a combination of three or four recipes by this point!
I’d love to hear if you give them a go! By all means take photos and share them with me on social media! (All my links are below!)
