We weren’t sure if we would manage a festive day out this year, what with how this year has been. We did manage to find a little bit of Christmas at Trerice; so headed there for a little walk this week!
Christmas at some of the local National Trust properties; is such a wonderful thing to experience. In the past we have visited Lanhydrock and Trelissick to see the decorations.

We’ve visited many of the National Trust sites in Cornwall, and I thought I was long overdue for a post sharing them all in a comprehensive list! So here’s a Throwback Thursday look back at some of the places we’ve been!
Here is a list of all the sites that can be found in Cornwall, with links to my posts if I’ve visited. I will update with any more links when I get to them!

I’m so glad we’re getting back to going out once or twice a month again; we’ve visited Trelissick already, and now it’s time for Lanhydrock Gardens. It’s a little more complicated with booking in advance, so a there’s not as much chance to be impulsive.
You can find out more about booking visiting times for the National Trust here.
But with the amazing weather we’re having at the moment; it’s so nice to get out, and enjoy some of our favourite places in the sunshine!
Of course the National Trust houses aren’t open yet; which is understandable, but it’s a rare treat to be able to get out and enjoy Lanhydrock’s beautiful gardens; which, if you’re eagle eyed when it comes to past posts, our visits usually get a bit rainy! (This is purely coincidental! We just have bad luck visiting when it comes to the weather!) The gardens are beautiful, and there is so much to see.

We are still largely staying at home; as much as restrictions are lessening each week, so of course, as usual I haven’t been doing much but we did manage to get out, in a socially distanced capacity; a couple of times this week which has been nice!
And what a week this has been, I’m so shocked at how much the weather has changed in just a few days!

Finally we are able to get out and about again! So we’re heading not too far from home this week, to one of our favourite nearby National Trust sites, Trelissick Gardens.
Now I’m back to work facing the general public again, so, it meant we’ve decided to make the occasional booking for a day out again. At least here, a few places are open, in some capacity, with timed arrivals spots available for booking around a day or two in advance.
Of course this is a difficult time, but we really enjoy our wanders around local National Trust properties and gardens, and have missed them so much over the lockdown, so for our first wander (aside from the local park) we booked to visit Trelissick.

Honestly we were going to do a different National Trust Christmas event this year, but then we heard about the NEW Masked Ball! And we had to go and check it out!
It is no secret that Lanhydrock House is probably my favourite National Trust property, it is incredible, and I’ve blogged about it more than once… But indulge me, and join me;

We had planned to visit two national trust sites on the Saturday of our weekend in Somerset, though after a morning at Montacute House, we finished looking around Barrington Court at around 3pm, and figured we had just enough time to visit somewhere else! So we headed to the nearby Lytes Cary Manor…

Recently we spent the weekend in Somerset, just to get away for a couple of days! We’re on a bit of a budget at the moment, and so we decided to check out a couple of nearby National Trust sites, as we are members, so get free entry to lots of sites in the UK, which of course we haven’t explored before!
After a morning at Montacute House in Somerset, we hopped into the car and drove the — miles to Barrington Court a Tudor Manor house near Ilminster. Continue reading “Somerset 2019 (Part 3) – Barrington Court”
There’s nothing like a break away, and we recently had a weekend away in Somerset, staying in the pretty village of Montacute, and after going to Haynes Motor Museum on the way, we set out to visit a couple of National Trust sites nearby to enjoy a relaxed sunny Saturday… Continue reading “Somerset 2019 (Part 2) – Montacute House”
Of all our National Trust visits, it seems fitting; that one of our final properties to visit in 2018; was one that had been on my list for a very long time; the beautiful, Antony House.
Antony House in Torpoint is an 18th Century mansion; now owned by the National Trust; it is still home to the family that have owned the estate since the 16th Century.
